Exclusive DJ Interviews DJ Name: Tumbleweed Hometown: San Jose, Ca. Is this your first DJ job? I was previously at UCSB had a show. It was AM and no one listened to it, I did not like it at all. This is my first quarter. How did you get involved here at KSCU? DJ Camouflage and I are friends, that’s how I got involved. How would you describe your show? Country-esque, old country, outlaw country, some bluegrass, new alternative country. Do you have any Venues around San Jose that you particularly like? It is hard to find good bands playing in San Jose. I do not really have one due to the lack of bands. San Francisco does ok. I feel like my type of music is played in coffee shops and mellow places. What are your favorite bands right now? Waylon Jennings, the Devil Makes Three, Neko Case. I think those bands also represent my show well. When is your show? 9-midnight Your thoughts of top 40 country? I do not own a radio…. So yeah. If you do not own a radio how do discover the music you play? I do not own a radio. I get my music through friends. I solicited people to make me mixes. I also grew up listening to country, my parents would take me to the Moose Lodge and I loved going there. What are your hobbies? I like to tap dance. I guess that has nothing to do with country, but that is my other hobby. Do you have another job? I work at San Jose State University with foreign students and help them learn English. Its an ESL program. Name: Faco Hometown: Sunnyvale, Ca Show Time: 6 AM- 12 Thursdays Show Title: Spontaneous Innuendos Is this your first DJ job? Yeah, this is my first. But I have been here 5 years. I do ticket giveaways as well as DJ. How did you get involved here at KSCU? I was in a band and DJ Spectator let me play on her radio show. I got into it dude. How would you describe your show? Request all types of music, mega compositions of dialogue with a sprinkle of genius. Freestyle flows with pounding intellectual vernacular. Comedy is the remedy when having your eardrums focused upon the show… that about sums it up. Do you have any Venues around San Jose that you particularly like? The Blank Club, Nickel City and the Caravan. They play good music What are your favorite bands right now? Cadence Weapon, Manu Chao, Sublime, Touch my Rash Favorite KSCU Show (Other than your own)? Spectator: The MiXed Files (Friday 6-9 am) What do you do outside the station? I play guitar and drums so I like to play music, Play shows, have fun. I also like to wrestle with my dog Baraca.
